Abbotsleigh Swimming Club 2023 Invitational Development Meet

On Sunday 6th of August, a Team of 10 Ravenswood Swimming Club Members and 4 Ravenswood Swimming program members competed at the Abbotsleigh Invitational Development Meet:

Holly Bishop, Abigail Chen, Claire Fisher, Grace Hallock, Willow Holm, Sophia Li, Sylvia Li, Kate Mesrop, Annabel Robinson, George Robinson, Sofia Cheung, Victoria Cheung, Evelyn Chung, Rachel Gao

The Abbotsleigh Swimming Carnival provided a valuable opportunity for our swimmers to compete in a challenging and competitive environment, where many raced against their friends, teammates and rivals from competing clubs. The highlight of the carnival was the impressive performance of our 12/U girl's relay teams and the All Age & Coaches relay. Both 12/u girl's relay teams exhibited remarkable determination and skill, resulting in them securing 3rd place in their respective relay events. Additionally, the inclusion of an All Age & Coaches relay saw our small but mighty Ravenswood team come together across all ages (8,9,10,11,12 + coach) to compete against rival clubs for the ‘Abbotsleigh Golden Flipper’. When the race began, it became apparent that they faced a tough challenge as the only all-girls relay team. Yet, what set our team apart was their unwavering commitment to each other, each swimmer giving their all, pushing through the water with grit and determination. Despite being out-touched, the atmosphere across all our swimmers and parents was truly remarkable.

The dedication of our swimmers was further evident in the numerous personal best and State Age qualifying times achieved across various events. Seeing our athletes improve their performances and push their boundaries is exciting.
